Rotary CLUB OF BURWOOD Affirmation:

May Rotary friends and Rotary ways help us to serve our community
here and abroad in many ways.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Wishing you a New Year filled with positivity, growth, and endless possibilities.

I hope you all enjoyed the break and are ready to face a new and challenging second half of our Rotary year!  Thomas Jefferson once said:  “I like the dreams of the future better than the history of the past”.  Our Burwood history is extremely important, but we live in very different times, so let us dream big, embrace change and see where it may take us!

Monday 3rd February
Hopefully you have all registered for the Burwood Police Event on Monday night!  Remember, we will not be holding a meeting at the Coro club on the 3rd.  Our next formal meeting will be Monday 17th February and we will hold a Board Meeting that night.  As usual, all members are invited to join us at the Board Meeting.

Sustainable Cambodia
All of you who follow our Facebook page will know that I had a fabulous time in Cambodia with my Sustainable Cambodia family.  Our sponsored child, Chhengky, is doing very well.  Her English is improving slowly.  I just love seeing how much the kids have grown from year to year!

Trees of Joy
Once again we were able to support our local community with the Tree of Joy.  Eurella has been part of this initiative for the last 5 years in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Burwood.
We are extremely grateful for the wonderful support we have received from the community.
We have collaborated with Strathfield Private Hospital and Burwood Council. They have been wonderful supports of the Tree of Joy.
This year we supported Chalmers Road Special School and DCJ (Department of Community and Justice).  We were able to provide gifts to approximately 150 children.
We received in excess of 200 gifts to be able to provide these recipients with a special gift for the Christmas Period.  This time of year can be a struggle for many families so it is a privilege to be able to add some happiness to their lives.
The excess gifts are held onto for the following year ensuring that we are able to provide the gifts for these organisations.
A big thank you to Dennise Herrick and Irene Giardino for their assistance in wrapping the gifts.  As they say many hands make light work and their contribution is highly appreciated.
Also, a special mention to Angela Ramsay (Strathfield Private Hospital) and Jumana Azeem (Burwood Council) who are the contacts that enable this initiative to happen in their respective locations.
Looking forward to 2025 Tree of Joy.
Warm Regards,
Anna-Marie
