Tonight we welcome Camilo Piovesan who will do a small presentation for 2RDJ-FM, Camilo does interviews on the "Conversations with Camilo " Program. Anna-Marie has booked the venue for the Vocational Excellence Awards on May 25th and circulated the nomination form. Please give consideration to nominees for this award. There will be a Transfer Meeting to the Rotary Club of Blacktown City on Tuesday May 5th to hear about our Global Grant. There will be no regular meeting on Monday 4th May. Please make an effort to attend the Transfer meeting and it is a partners night. We need to RSVP by Friday May 1st. Please note that Membership fees are now overdue.

District Assembly
The District Assembly serves as a cornerstone event for fostering collaboration, planning, and information gathering within the district's leadership structure. It is designed to empower club officers, presidents, district leaders, and committee members to share expertise, and develop strategies that advance the district's success. The assembly aims to:
- Provide training for incoming club officers and leaders.
- Establish a shared vision for the upcoming year.
- Encourage networking and idea-sharing among clubs and the district team.
- Discuss strategies for increasing membership and enhancing community impact.
- Review resources, tools, and platforms available for clubs and district operations.

Were you fooled by our April Fools campaign?
Dear Rotarian or Rotaractor,
In case you missed it, this morning we announced: ‘Rotary bans sausage sizzles Australia-wide’. Absolutely outrageous, of course! Well, we're pleased to share it's all an April Fools joke!

Can my club still host a sausage sizzle?
Yes. We’re pleased to announce the classic Australian sausage-sizzle barbecue fundraisers are safe and a perfectly good way of raising funds for worthy Rotary causes.
Why did Rotary South Pacific run this campaign?
The purpose of the campaign is a tongue-in-cheek way of drawing attention to what Rotary is most known for in Australia. With the public’s attention, we can direct the conversation to what Rotary achieves beyond the barbecue.
This is also an opportunity for us to form working relationships with various media outlets and brands on a national scale, something which we aim to implement across the South Pacific to tell Rotary’s powerful story. This is just the beginning.
What does Rotary do beyond the barbecue?
Rotary’s sausage sizzles contribute to life-changing projects around the world.
On 2 April, our Rotary South Pacific Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn pages will share a carousel of images showcasing all the great work Rotary barbecues contribute to. We encourage you to share these carousels on your club’s channels as well.
Fundraising from barbecues go towards projects like:

Eradicating Polio world-wide

Providing easier access for mothers and children to access healthcare

Protecting the environment

Providing clean water, sanitation, and hygiene

Promoting peace
-
Supporting education and literacy

Disaster relief and response
Why is this an Australian-only campaign?
This is an Australian-specific campaign, because it is an Australian-specific public image perception. From conversations with our kiwi and pacific friends, Rotary is not as closely associated with sausage sizzles. April Fools presented a unique opportunity for this campaign to take place. We are keeping our finger on the pulse to find suitable opportunities outside of Australia.
Where did the campaign run?
Rotary South Pacific channels, including the
website,
Facebook and
Instagram. We encourage you to get in on the joke and have a laugh with us on social media.
Externally, we received media coverage on Australian radio and TV – we will capture this all as the campaign continues. Conversations from radio listeners covered
how much the communities value Rotary, that Rotary raises funds for important causes through these barbecues and how Rotary creates a lasting impact (we couldn’t have said it better ourselves!).

Transfer Meeting May 5th Global Grants
There will be no meeting on Monday 4th May. We have a transfer meeting to Blacktown Workers Club with the Rotary Club of Blacktown City.
Rotary Club of Blacktown City is honoured to welcome Amina Evangelista Swanepoel, Executive Director of Roots of Health. Amina will present powerful insights into the challenges faced in remote communities and the transformative impact of Roots of Health’s services. This is a valuable opportunity to hear directly from a leader creating real, measurable change on the ground.
We warmly invite you and your Club on 5 May 2026 to meet and listen to Amina. Roots of Health is a recent recipient of a Rotary District Foundation Grant. Advancing the advocacy is essential, as the need is great, and ongoing support and shared commitment truly matter.
Please feel free to come at 6.00PM to eat at the Club prior to the meeting.
Days for Girls Fundraiser

Days for Girls is holding their major fundraiser for the year on Sunday, 31 May - a Gala Lunch. Last year's event was fabulous, and this year's is going to be even better than last year's. We have a celebrity MC - Josh Horner, ex Dancing with the Stars judge, and the speaker is Jessica Rowe, journalist, TV presenter. We have music and dancing - so much fun!
Feel free to invite friends, family, business colleagues to help over 2000 girls to attend school every day, and achieve improved health, education and livelihood outcomes.
