Burwood Rotary's Inaugural Planning Meeting for the 2024 Primary Schools' Citizenship Awards

The Rotary Club of Burwood is proud to announce the commencement of planning for the 2024 Primary Schools' Citizenship Awards. This initiative recognizes the young leaders of tomorrow who exemplify outstanding qualities of leadership, positive attitudes, cooperation, reliability, trust, consideration, and care for others.

Our first planning meeting marked a significant milestone in our journey towards celebrating the acts of good citizenship among our youth. It was an event filled with enthusiasm and dedication, as current and former members gathered to lay the groundwork for what promises to be an inspiring and memorable awards ceremony.

President Dennise Herrick shared her vision for the event: "The Citizenship Awards are not just about recognizing the young individuals who are making a difference in their communities. It's about inspiring a wave of change that starts with our children, encouraging them to take active roles in leadership and community service. This year, we are dedicated to making the awards more impactful than ever."

The PRISCA Awards, as they are fondly known, have a rich history dating back to 1991, when the Rotary Club of Burwood first established them. Over the years, more than 600 children have been honored, and the event has raised significant funds for charities and charitable causes.

The awards night has seen over 3,000 attendees and has featured guest speakers from various walks of life, including Olympians, Paralympians, actors, celebrities, community leaders, and professionals.

As we embark on this exciting phase of planning, we invite member, schools, and local businesses to get involved. Whether it's through nominating students, volunteering, or sponsoring awards and prizes, every contribution brings us closer to a successful event that honors the spirit of citizenship.
