As you all know, we will not be holding a formal meeting this Monday night. As it is a public holiday, we are meeting for dinner at the Croydon Park Club, 55 Seymour Street Croydon Park, 6.30 pm. If you are attending and have not already done so, please contact Marilie on 0423244538 or email
mbomed1@gmail.com so that she can save you a seat. It will be great to catch up and get to know each other better! I am very much looking forward to it!
The Rotary Down Under magazine has some fantastic articles this month. I really enjoyed the stories on Country Women. Did you know that 15th October is the United Nations International Day of Rural Women?
24th October is World Polio Day. Read in RDU how far we have come in our quest to eradicate this debilitating disease. We will not give up until the job is done! You can make a personal tax deductable donation to End Polio through our Foundation.
PRISCA is fast approaching and you should all receive an invitation this week, so you can register and pay through our website. Please note we will not be able to accept payment on the night. We need all Burwood Rotarians in attendance, please make an effort to be there, Monday 4th November at Wests Ashfield Leagues Club, 6 pm.
I will be going on leave from Friday 11th October to Friday 1st November and Immediate Past President Hugo will be standing in for me. We will not hold a Board Meeting in October but I believe Hugo has plans for the meeting on Monday 21st October? Think I am suffering FOMO already!
Please remember to send your apologies to Past President Sergeant Irene if you are unable to attend a club meeting.
If you have any articles you would like to see in Spoke, please send them to me at
denniseh100@gmail.com Spoke is produced the week before each meeting and the deadline for the Monday issue is 5 pm the Thursday before.
Looking forward to seeing some of you for dinner on Monday night! Have a great long weekend. Enjoy the football if that is your thing!
Also remember that Daylight Savings starts Sunday morning! So turn your clocks forward before you go to bed Saturday night.
My favourite quote for the week…
In life, the only two things you can control are your effort and your attitude. Everything else is not up to you!
