Pres John Welcome our guest speaker Jerry Dumas. And Visitors. Debra Mansour and members of the Australian Ukrainian community, Lumar , Oxana and Roman
Apologies Lloyd roever, , Irene Giardino, John Kane , Churlya Wurfel .
Tonight will be a topical presentation about the sad event in the Ukraine and will bring us up to date. Jerry has been to Ukraine in December 2022

Jerry presented a video representing the history of Ukraine and a PowerPoint presentation “Stand with Ukraine”
Welcome to country.

The whole presentation is reprinted below in Stories. There were many questions regarding the Presentation.

Pres John applying for a grant application assisted by Simon fox, from Burwood RSL. Grant application up to $10,000.00 for a new Trailer to transport our BBQ equipment. Will inspect it again We are looking to run the BBQ at the Sandakan Memorial event. Also Burwood festival coming

District assembly in on this Saturday. Pres elect Hugo will be going. Others invited. .

Club changeover will be at Club Coro Partners night on 3rd July.

Rob Whitney Rypen and Muna. Contacted Rosebank but not available this year.

Burwood Girls to be followed up and may go to MUNA.

NYSF applications now open. Cost is $2850.00. And now is residential in Canberra. We will offer fifty percent for two local students only one forum to be held in Canberra

Summer Science Experience about Sept for Year Nine, and about $150 and we support about 50 percent

Rob will send out info to schools re 50 percent

Anna Marie re Vivid in Botanical Gardens looking for assistance to support Four people for $40.00 per ticket. Individual sponsorship, Denise John, Fuad, Hugo

 A big thank you to PE Hugo ,Peter, Dennise and Maralie for representing our club, Burwood Rotary at the District Assembly

 They have given up their valuable  time to assist and build our Club and learn more about their particular portfolios so they can serve Rotary in our Local ,National and International communities

 Our next meeting is Monday 15th May  and Hugo ,Peter ,Dennise and Maralie will inform us on their District Assembly experience

This is an important meeting as it will set the direction for PE Hugo's year as our President

Fellows here is the latest from Juvie in Gingoog, they returned from the Helping Hand mission, and are now preparing for the next. We have some donations coming in, thank you, and will send every dollar over for these missions.

Dear Friends and supporters,

I received another email from Juvie and MinPRA in Gingoog. Somehow, miraculously they avoided much damage to themselves. On the compound it appears two fruit trees came down and the other crop was damaged. On the mountain property the damage was even less. They hate asking for help but they would like to help the island of Dinagat where Vera took a team on a SewAID Mission a couple of years ago.

Rotary Youth Exchange - making a difference - Reflections from a Reunion 30 years later.
 
The Year is 1991, two busses full of Rotary Exchange Students enter a parking lot in Sydney after 3 weeks around Australia on the “Capricorn Ramble Tour”. Saying goodbye was heart-breaking, knowing that we would soon be back home and maybe never see each other again.
 
Jumping to September 2021, downtown Frankfurt on a Friday afternoon in brilliant weather. Stepping out of the car to greet 3 people I have not seen for 30 year in front of their hotel.

Burwood Rotary 50th Anniversary Charitable Trust
The Rotary Club of Burwood has created the 50th Anniversary Charitable Trust with the overall charitable purpose of "relieving poverty and the advancement of education or any other matter beneficial to the community". Funds are awarded to persons who satisfy the Trustees that they are financially disadvantaged and are undertaking some form of further study/sporting endeavour beneficial to themselves and to the community in general.
