Pres John introduced Casey Allen. He noted he was at the very first PRISCA night to see Casey persented with he raward in 1993 .

Casey Allen

She reflected on her award as a year six student She went to Meridan and enjoyed dancing and she was interested in music, piano and singing. She was very shy. Her role models were her Mum and Dad. They instilled manners and encouraged kindness to others. She worked hard with a sense of justice and modesty in the face of success.

She was apprehensive on the night. She met the guest speaker Fiona Coote, Australian heart transplant recipient. Her parents were very happy and jumped up, as per the Toyota advertsement.

She remembers the words on her award. The message matters, being respectful matters and courtesy matters. They became her personal values, and even now as a teacher and mother of two children. She congratulated the awardees as future leaders ,.

She remembers using the library, having a home phone, no such things a mobiles and listening to music she had recorded. Now students are more connected. More is expected of you because of the digital connection,

Good citizenship is even more necessary in these days of digital connection,

She is now interested in leadership and the importance of quiet leadership. Music and drama are her passions. At high school she was inspired by her teachers, their commitment and care for their students. She has been a music teacher at PLC for 19 years and it is very rewarding

Take the time to reflect on the positive things that have led you here tonight.

Thanked by Liam.

From the District Governor

Dear  John and Tim,

I just wanted  to say congratulations on such a wonderful successful evening.

It is so exciting to see the wonderful  interaction of community and Rotary with so many benefits to the  schools in Marinduque and Cebu.

It was also wonderful to hear about small business and that there is a champion of that cause. He spoke so well in raising out awareness of the importance of small business. Could you remind me of his details.

I look forward to working with you in the  future and sharing and growing Rotary.
Please pass on my very best wishes to all the Rotarians in Burwood Rotary Club.

Yours in Rotary Service

Report from Gingoog by PP Walter Bock

Dear Friends and supporters,

I received another email from Juvie and MinPRA in Gingoog. Somehow, miraculously they avoided much damage to themselves. On the compound it appears two fruit trees came down and the other crop was damaged. On the mountain property the damage was even less. They hate asking for help but they would like to help the island of Dinagat where Vera took a team on a SewAID Mission a couple of years ago.

Rotary Youth Exchange - making a difference - Reflections from a Reunion 30 years later.

The Year is 1991, two busses full of Rotary Exchange Students enter a parking lot in Sydney after 3 weeks around Australia on the “Capricorn Ramble Tour”. Saying goodbye was heart-breaking, knowing that we would soon be back home and maybe never see each other again.

Jumping to September 2021, downtown Frankfurt on a Friday afternoon in brilliant weather. Stepping out of the car to greet 3 people I have not seen for 30 year in front of their hotel.
