 Agenda items for Monday 18 July 2022
 
 Club Assembly – where the meeting is focused on planning for the coming year, and I   encouraged club
 members to attend and bring with them suggestions for the coming year.
 President Fred opened the opened the meeting at 6.30pm, welcoming the guests and   fellow Rotarians &  their partners.

 President’s report – Fred
 
President Fred discussed the following information with the members:
 Incoming emails:
  26 May 2022 – Hugo Robinson – The Moon Festival – August 2022 – Action Hugo to  follow up   with Burwood on his return from his overseas holiday.
  2 June 2022 – John Grosser – Sydney Street Aid Project – Action Fred to follow up  with  organisers for more details.
 14 June 2022 – Anne Medforth - our District 9675 is celebrating the Belonging Festival
 25 June 2022 – Keith Roffey – The Rotary Foundation. Action Fred, the club has agreed to donate $100 on behalf of each financial member now to the Rotary Foundation.
 26 June 2022 – Faye Helou – Ukrainian displaced people – Sydney – Rotary  Assistance. Action Lloyd Roever,  has agreed that there should be sub-committee formed for all Ukrainian  appeals, and then decide if and what the club donates.
 6 July 2022 – Stephen Humphreys - RYPEN 5 - 7 August at Telford, Royal National Park
 11 July 2022 – Janette Weeding – Rotary assistance for EXPO in October 2022. Action Sam Helou, the club has agreed to support Janette Weeding’s Expo Project on the 27 October 2022 (between 10.00am to 2.00pm) with a BBQ.
 12 July 2022 – Richard Old – Sandakan Memorial Service Invitation – 7 August 2022. Action Sam Helou and his BBQ team are willing to support this function, however, require a guarantee on numbers from Richard Old.
 13 July 2022 – Mark Anderson – End Polio Train Ride – 24 October 2022
 13 July 2022 – Tony Sai – Ferragosto Ball – 6 August 2022
 14 July 2022 – Liam James – Primary School Awards (PRISCA) – 21 November 2022. Action Fred to follow up with Liam & Anna as to when we could arrange the first Zoom meeting for those meeting at Keith & Janette Weeding’s house.
 15 July 2022 – Thomas Delisi (Rotary Club of Kings Cross) – Donations needed on behalf of  women and children in Warsaw.

New Generations (Youth) – Robert Whitney tabled the following report
 RYPEN 5-7 August 2022 – at Telford, Royal National Park   The camp for 14- to 16-year-old! They could be your niece or nephew, your next-door neighbour, or offspring of friends!  If you have never sponsored a young person to participate in this life changing program now’s your chance!
 MUNA (Model United Nations)
 NYSF
o Again, this year, it will be a hybrid forum and the reduced cost will be $1,950.00.
Previously, we have provided financial assistance of 50% of cost to a maximum of two
local year 11 students. There could be scope to offer sponsorship to more students as
the fee is about half the pre-Covid residential fee.
o Santos Science Experience
o This STEM outreach program is designed to encourage year 9 and 10 students who have
shown an interest in science and technology. Burwood Rotary has usually offered 50%
sponsorship to a maximum of four students.
 RYDA – (Rotary Driving Awareness Program)
 RLYA – (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards)
 PRISCA (Primary School Awards) – 21 November 2022
  Liam & Anna will be the primary administrators, however, will need substantial help
from our club members and friends, to ensure PRISCA is a success. To ensure the
success of PRISCA in 2022, Keith & Janette Weeding have suggested that a monthly
meeting be held at their home and where possible either or both Liam & Anna could be
present if not the meeting could communicate with Liam & Anna  by  Zoom.

Grant funding team needed to provide funding for the following proposed projects
Simon Fox gave a brief discussion on grant funding for the club, and said that himself and Patricia Abrahams would seek and put together grant application on projects that the club will identify for 2022- 23.

Fellows here is the latest from Juvie in Gingoog, they returned from the Helping Hand mission, and are now preparing for the next. We have some donations coming in, thank you, and will send every dollar over for these missions.

Report from Gingoog by PP Walter Bock 

Dear Friends and supporters,

I received another email from Juvie and MinPRA in Gingoog. Somehow, miraculously they avoided much damage to themselves. On the compound it appears two fruit trees came down and the other crop was damaged. On the mountain property the damage was even less. They hate asking for help but they would like to help the island of Dinagat where Vera took a team on a SewAID Mission a couple of years ago.

Rotary Youth Exchange - making a difference - Reflections from a Reunion 30 years later.
 
The Year is 1991, two busses full of Rotary Exchange Students enter a parking lot in Sydney after 3 weeks around Australia on the “Capricorn Ramble Tour”. Saying goodbye was heart-breaking, knowing that we would soon be back home and maybe never see each other again.
 
Jumping to September 2021, downtown Frankfurt on a Friday afternoon in brilliant weather. Stepping out of the car to greet 3 people I have not seen for 30 year in front of their hotel.

Burwood Rotary 50th Anniversary Charitable Trust
The Rotary Club of Burwood has created the 50th Anniversary Charitable Trust with the overall charitable purpose of "relieving poverty and the advancement of education or any other matter beneficial to the community". Funds are awarded to persons who satisfy the Trustees that they are financially disadvantaged and are undertaking some form of further study/sporting endeavour beneficial to themselves and to the community in general.
